Bedrocan – an agricultural cannabis company

Hi,

I just now read that you are making Bediol available to patients in Holland, Germany, Italy and Finland. That’s indeed very good news.

Also, I got an e-mail forwarded from a friend, that he got from you, that reads: ”Furthermore patients suffering from psychological disorders (such as ADHD and addiction related problems) benefit from Bediol.”

This is to me extremely interesting since I am living in Sweden (with diagnosed migraine and adhd), trying to get my doctors to recognize the benefitial effect that cannabis have on me. Their response is that they haven’t read any conclusive evidence that cannabis could have positive effects on neither migraine nor adhd. So please, if you have any further info on this subject, please forward it to me.

Good evening,

Thank you for writing back.

My interest consists of several parts. One of them being that I want to try medicinal cannabis (such as Bediol, or even Sativex) for myself, the official way. I have for the past 10 years gone through a variety of somewhere upwards 30 different medications, such as antidepressants, pain relievers, sleeping pills and lately also concerta for my adhd difficulties. None of them working properly or with severe enough unwanted effects.

The Swedish government is still on a zero-tolerance approach regarding narcotics, and also narcotic pharmaceuticals. It seems Sweden are even circumventing the Schengen agreement by allowing ANY narcotic medicine BUT cannabis to get through customs. Thus, apparently, making our own version of article 75 of the agreement making the original completely useless. This, and the Swedish doctors’ complete lack of knowledge, makes my situation complicated and very much a struggle to get my daily pains and complications acknowledged – and dealt with properly.

I know of the mcforadhd-site, thank you, but was interested if you yourselves had conducted any studies worth mentioning on the subject of migraine or adhd with Bediol medication. Also I am interested in how (in what way) you are working with Finland since they are our neighbours – and it seems they are our complete opposite regarding the issue of medicinal cannabis.

I have been in contact with 17 Swedish pharmaceutical companies, the Swedish Government, all different degrees of care facilities, and am since a few months waiting to get a proper invitation to one of the hospitals in Sweden where Sativex has been ordinated. There I will hopefully be able to discuss the issue of me being ordinated medicinal cannabis such as Bediol and Sativex.

Sorry for not answering you earlier. No real excuse but it’s been very busy lately.

To answer your question: no clincal trials have been conducted so far with Bediol for the treatment of ADHD or similar conditions.

There have been some studies on treatment of ADHD with cannabis, but I presume you are aware of these studies through the

Bedrocan will not conduct any trials in the near future, because as a company we are not equiped to do so. The status of our company is kind of special as we are growing cannabis as a pharmaceutical raw material. So basicly we are not a pharmaceutical company but more an agricultural one.

I’m sorry to disappoint you in this matter.

In Finland the governement has formally allowed Bedrocan products on the basis of a court case, won by a patient in 2006. Cannabis is now available on doctors prescription through pharmacies. Our products are exported by the Dutch government (Bureau of Medicinal Cannabis: www.cannabisbureau.nl) on the basis of an import license from other each other country that has undersigned the UN treaties of 1961 and 1971 on controlled substances.

Wish you luck in your efforts to get acces to cannabinoids to treat your condition. Hopefully you will succeed. Please ask when you have any more questions for us.
